Over The Hump Mountain Bike Race Series Rules

  1. HAVE FUN!
  2. Helmets required on course, while on course.
  3. Racers must start in their CLASS. (Mark Class on LEFT calf)
  4. Racers must cross finish line with bike.
  5. NO headphones or earphones, MP3 players etc. are to be used anytime you are on the course.
  6. Short cuts result in disqualification.  If you leave the course, reenter where you left.
  7. Racers must complete all laps for their category. Non completion of all your laps is a DNF.
  8. Racers are permitted support. Racers may leave the course for repairs, but must return to exact location where they left.

Sportsmanship conduct: Foul riding, use of profane language and other unsportsmanlike behavior is prohibited. The penalty imposed is at the discretion of the race director.

Racer protests must be filed in writing with the race director, within 15 minutes of completing the race. This is a FUN race: disputes will be handled fairly with involved parties, ultimate decision will be by the race director.

Category (Class) Descriptions:

JUNIORS: 2 laps around course: 15 and under boys and girls

BEGINNER: 2 laps around course: 1st time and less experienced racers/riders

SPORT: 3 laps around the course.

EXPERT: 4 laps around the course.

Mandatory Upgrades: If you’ve been under categorized with an unfair advantage, you will be upgraded to the class above at Race Director’s discretion.

Scoring and points: All scores are FINAL. Racer will receive points in their class:

  • 1st = 25 points, 2nd = 24 points, 3rd = 23 points, 4th =22 points, 5th =21 points, etc. Minimum 1 point for finish.
  • In the event of a tie, winner will be determined by: The most firsts, then seconds, then thirds etc.
  • If you change classes you will not be able to add your series points for both races, and will only be scored in each category raced.
  • CLASS SERIES CHAMPIONS and are determined by total cumulative points.

Finish line, number plates etc: proper scoring is your responsibility. Help us by:

  1. Register in the proper class – see the class category and number list at registration.
  2. Your number plate attached to the front of the bikeRIGHT SIDE UP! (two holes on TOP!)
  3. Do not go through the finish line if you are not finishing!
  4. After you cross the finish line STAY IN ORDER in the finish chute until your number is recorded.
  5. PLEASE slow down after the finish
  6. If you do not finish the race, notify registrar and sign DNF sheet
  7. KEEP FINISH AREA CLEAR, AFTER YOU’VE BEEN SCORED, PLEASE EXIT FINISH SHOOT.
  8. KEEP your number plate, from first race you enter. It will be YOUR number plate for the entire season! If you change categories you will need to turn in your number plate. If you lose your number plate you will need to purchase a new number plate ($5)/note: if this is your first race you’ll be assigned a number at registration.

Category number system: We use numbers in series for each category. You will have the same number for the entire series (unless you change classes). KEEP THIS NUMBER.

Lost number plates are $5 and can only be issued by OTH (no home made number plates!)
